FREECYCLE TM - Changing the world one gift at a time
The Koonwarra Sustainable Communities Centre launched the South Gippsland Freecycle Group in May 2006.
Interest in this group is consistent with a membership now of 515 and 940 messages have been posted either offering items or seeking them.
Freecycle really does work with many items now in homes where they are appreciated.
Do you have an item you no longer need and maybe you are thinking of taking to the Transfer Station? Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southgippslandfreecycle/ join for free, place your item on offer and wait for contact. Whether it's a chair, fax machine, piano, computer, appliances or an old door, it will be acceptable on the site. There is one rule - everything must be free and legal.
Freecycle began on 1 May 2003 in Tucson, Arizona with the idea that "one person's trash is another person's treasure".
In 5 years the number of Freecycle Groups has grown to 4,500 with 5,300,000 members globally.
The Freecycle Network TM harnesses the power of the internet to find new homes for perfectly good, but no longer needed "stuff"... In the process, we reduce waste, save precious resources, connect with like-minded folks, and change the world in the process, one gift at a time. Total membership of groups around the world is now over one million, keeping over 50 tonnes a day out of landfills.
