The Leongatha Womens Cricket team use the Koonwarra Recreation Reserve as their home ground and Mary McKillop College for training.  They play in the Gippsland Womens Cricket League against teams as far away as Bairnsdale.

The 2008 Season saw the Final between Leongatha and Morwell and was played at the Koonwarra grounds in heat wave conditions on 16 March.  The temperature exceeded 40 degrees.  Morwell had the advantage of fielding prior to the lunch break and were the able to sit back under the Oak trees and encourage their batswomen who batted extremely well.

Leongatha finished the day with only nine players having lost three players with heat related illness - a sad way to finish a great season.  Morwell were the winners, however, Leongatha should be congratulated for the way they played in such trying conditions.  Attempts were made to call the match off as was the case with a Men's match at Moe the same day, but this was not agreed to.

The drinks break was very welcome with some players having to call for more drinks very shortly after this break as it was so hot.  The camera that took these photos had to be switched off during the drinks break as the warning light for overheating came on.  The camera should not be worked in over 40 degrees.
